Safety at work should always be our priority. However, some people would put their common sense away about work safety when they are supposed to always focus on its importance.

It saddened me to see such acts. Thankfully, all is well but in the event that mishap were to happen, it is more regrettable on the hindsight.

We human acts on incentives and I cannot justify what incentives does this gentleman have for working on the 3rd floor without safety measures. More efficient, higher productivity?

Definitely not at the expense of safety, don’t you agree?

Always close, but never closed May 29, 2011

I have always thought that 7-11’s tag line was cleverly summarized in 5 words what they promised- “Always close, but never closed”.

As a chain of convenient stores that is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, I really thought that all their stores are “never closed”. They are indeed “always close” to us, especially in some countries where some stores could be just less than 20 metres away like across the street or at turn of a road junction.

Thus, I was surprised to see a closed 7-11 when I thought of getting a drink at 10pm one evening.

Back after 2 Months February 16, 2011

I’ve taken a 2 months break but it seemed like a year. Oh yes, it’s already 2011.

Thanks giving, Christmas, New Year and even Valentine’s Day is over. It seem like waking up from a coma. Hey, I’m supposed to be refreshed, rejuvenated and revitalized after a well deserved break. Okay, let me make some New Year Resolutions here:-

1. Follow Through; Finish Through– I’m good at starting projects, ideas and work and weak in finishing and completing them. It’s like a piece of  shit with a really hard and solid start, followed by watery splatter all over the toilet bowl that become spotty with the diarrhea-tic finish with no focus. I gotta get my act together, do what I’ve committed to all around me, and not just follow up, but THROUGH. Seeing and even touching the finishing line is not good enough, I must go through the finishing line!

2. Action, ACTion, ACTION– There are times when I think too much and resulted in no action- paralysis due to excessive analysis. Just do it. So often, I’ve think of updating this blog and even had started typing but was not posted because I thought it is not grammatically &/or politically &/or structurally &/or emotionally &/or religiously &/or whatever-ly, correct. Omigosh, just get it done and if it is not satisfactory, edit it. Still not up to expectation, revise it. Action creates momentum, Newton’s Law. Get the energy up and do do do.

3. Gratitude – I need to show appreciation to all around me, from spouse, family, colleagues, friends, clients. Do not let my internal emotion, frustration and irritation to spread outwards around me. Say “Thank you” and mean it. Do not fall into the “Thank you to you too” trap. Smile to strangers.

4. Time Management– cliche to say but it’s really a fact that everyone has 24 hours. Plan, Do, Check, Act. Be on time for all appointments and commitments.

5. Zen– be a miniamist. I’ve too much junks- receipts, credit card bills, catalogs, brochures, old text books, papers with notes scribbled on it, name cards of people who I vaguely remember. Be organized, be neat, be tidy, be RUTHLESS when deciding to throw the unwanted stuff away.

I shall end here because I have the urge to throw thing now.

HTC Desire HD with htcsense

my HTC Sense experience, or rather, the lack of it

Before you buy HTC’s Desire HD, Desire Z or any of the HTC phones with HTC Sense online features to check out the htcsense.com online experience, you may be disappointed (like me) for now. I had created my profile in it online and deliberately lock my HTC Desire HD to experience the joy of locking the phone remotely. As I’m unable to unlock it after that due to there is no unlock feature, I’m now having a locked phone (no SIM card in it yet as I’m canceling my Blackberry plan to data surf plan).

htc sense online for my desire hd

my HTC Sense experience

Despite my earlier post about getting HTC Desire HD early next year, I have found out that I was unable to resist the deal when my telco gave me a $300 voucher on Friday which was marketed towards signing up with an iPhone plan.

I headed there and told them that I’m not interested in getting an Apple iPhone and got them to check on the availability of HTC Desire HD. The customer service office in green told me that’s okay and in a whispering tone,”We ran out of iPhones, anyway. Let me check…”

“We’ve got the last one and is booked by someone else”, (more…)

I’m currently using my HTC Dream aka Google G1 (first generation developer phone) without a SIM card. As it does not have a SIM card in it, I am using it to have internet access with available Wi-Fi.

In addition, there are numerous apps in it for various usage- GPS tracking, (more…)

Buying a HTC Desire HD? Maybe next year. December 7, 2010

Consumer electronics products these days are pack with so much features (and perceived benefits) that we rarely get to use all of them. Nevertheless, I think HTC Sense had done a good job in hearing what the consumers and, importantly, addressing them. Now it even goes online with even more features that allows to wipe and remotely locate your lost HTC phone. Review of HTC Desire HD are generally good for the speed, features like it’s cloud computing ability and able to support Flash 10.1. However, the most eyesore for many but not really for me is the awful battery life perhaps due to the 4.3″ glorious screen. For me, I do get a 12DC adapter in my cab, and can always give my smart phone boost of battery as and when I want.

Personally, even if I decide to get one eventually, it would be in early 2011 because it has limited stocks in the market now. In addition, I’m not in favor of getting the initial possible buggy products especially during launch and make frequent trips to service center. Furthermore, by then, more choices of accessories would be available at reasonable prices as I heard of folks who got their brand new HTC Desire HD and/or HTC Desire Z but unable to get the accessories they want.
